This page is the English version of the privacy page of the Vietnamese edition, with a note on location added. The same rules apply to both editions.
When you use the microphone
Chuyện AI turns on the microphone only when you tap to ask. If your browser has built-in speech recognition, the recognition may be done by a service of your browser or operating system, under that provider's policy. Otherwise, a short recording is sent through the Chuyện AI server to OpenAI's transcription API. The app doesn't save that recording or its transcript in a database, in analytics logs or in your browser's storage.
When a request isn't clear and the app needs to ask you again, the audio goes directly to a short OpenAI Realtime session, which closes itself after that one question. Chuyện AI doesn't keep a transcript or the audio that comes back. According to OpenAI's current API data controls, API data isn't used to train models by default, and Realtime data may stay in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days under the default settings. OpenAI currently lists the transcription endpoint as keeping no abuse-monitoring logs and no application state.
Nearby and your location
Nearby asks for your location only when you tap it. Your browser sends the coordinates with that one request, so our server can find the closest story. We don't store them.
Story audio
English stories are never generated on demand. The narration is recorded in advance with a synthetic voice and played from Chuyện AI's own audio storage, so playing a story sends nothing about you to a speech service.
The short question the app asks to check a request (“Did you mean …?”) is made once with OpenAI's Speech API from the story's title, not from your voice, and then saved in the same audio storage so it isn't made again. OpenAI's documentation currently says the Speech endpoint may keep abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days under the default settings and keeps no application state.
Data kept on your device, and analytics
The list of stories you have listened to and the topics you like are kept in your own browser's localStorage. Unlike a cookie, this data isn't sent along with every request, and you can delete it by clearing this site's data in your browser. These pages set no cookies. Chuyện AI records a small set of first-party events, such as pages viewed, a story starting to play and audio errors, to run the product. It doesn't record IP addresses, user agents, voice recordings, transcripts or account IDs. Raw events are kept for up to 400 days. Their location is only a country, region or city, when trusted infrastructure provides it, or a rough guess from your browser's time zone.
References and choices
You can type your request instead of using the microphone at any time. For OpenAI's latest policy for each endpoint, see the OpenAI API data controls documentation.
