Kind Hearts in Japanese Folk Tales
Something glows inside a stalk of bamboo, and a woodcutter stops to look.
Four Japanese tales follow a bamboo princess, a grateful sparrow, a faithful dog, and a crab's encounter with a greedy monkey.
Story 1 of 4

In the middle of a whole forest of green bamboo rustling in the wind, one stalk suddenly lit up, as softly as if the full moon had come down to that very spot.
